My Elusive Thought
I'm sure you know what it's like to have a teasing thought disappear from your mind a millisecond after it arrived.

Slippery as an eel
Or like a mango peel
Is my little thought
That can't be caught
Elusive, evades me
Taunting, parades she
Free from my grasp
Can't seem to clasp
My fingers surround her
But they can't account for
Her speed so agile
It'll take a while
For me to retrieve
And find reprieve
Oh, there she is now!
Caught her, don't know how
Firm between my finger
But she will not linger
Longer than a while
Because that's her style
